You must have physical strength, spiritual strength and mental strength; and only when you have the three, can you really do service. Food, head and God. Food is for the body; and you want a good body so the brain can function properly, so you can think. And why do you want this head and that intellect? To realise that which is beyond this, and that is God. (CWBSSB, pp. 9-10)
There are three stages to knowing God. One is intellect, which is just imagination; one is drawing near; and the third is union with God. (CWBSSB, p. 19)
Man has two eyes; he sees only past and present. God has three eyes. God’s eyes are spiritual. He sees in front, behind, above and below. Like the garland pulled over the finger - finger is the present and it is in touch with past and future.
God is the present. He is Omnipresent. As Baba looks at people, he sees the past, the I of present moment, and the future, and everywhere in, as every direction. (CWBSSB, p. 93)
Most important is that daily from morning till night you must think of three essential things, namely do not forget God, do not believe in the world, do not be afraid of death. These three things are essential in your life. You must forget any harm done to you by others. So also, you must forget any good you may do to others. If you keep on thinking in your mind the harm done to you by others, you will in return attempt to harm them. To harm them in return is a sin. You should not commit such a sin. By forgetting the good you may have done to others, you will not be expecting them to do good to you in return. If you are expecting to get something in return and do not get it, you will have to take birth again. (SSB 1977, p. 251)
Rama spoke to Ravana in a soft voice - ‘Fool! First listen to the words of moral counsel I am giving. There are three types of men in the world. The first one is like the patali tree, which has fine blossoms but the blossoms do not turn into fruit. Those who indulge in mere speech and do not practise a mite of what they say are of this type. The second group are like the plantain tree. It gives flowers and fruits, both. Those who speak and act, practise what they assert, these are of this type. The third type of men do not prattle or boast or talk high; they are silent workers who act with no boast. You are mere braggart. Your immoral rules have brought ruin on your race’. (RKRV, p. 457)
One does not have to search for spiritual power, going around the world and spending a lot of money. Stay in your own house, develop it in yourself; such spiritual power is in you! You do not have to run for it here and there. God is not external; God is not outside you; God is inside you. You are not a man, you are God yourself. You are not one person but three; the one you think you are (physical); the one others think you are (mental); and the one you really are, God. Do not be under the delusion that God is somewhere and you have to search for Him.
God is in you, and when you are able to realise that, and when you are able to develop the spiritual power from within you, then you will see God. You are going in the path of worldly consciousness; you are not taking the path of super-consciousness. When you take the path of super-consciousness, you will get realisation, and you will be able to see the Truth. (SSS Vol.9, p. 184)
