OM SRI SAI RAM

SAMARPANAM

Impelled by Bhagawan’s grace, this offering at His Lotus Feet is an attempt to bring ‘some’ of His sayings in alphabetical order. Whether a particular saying should come under one alphabet or the other is solely the choice of the compiler motivated by Him only. Verily, the same could have been brought under many other alphabets. Cross references have been given for many words wherever possible.

Bhagawan has said many things. Some have been printed and some have not been published. Even from all the printed matter, only some of them have been included in this ‘digest’. This does not mean that other sayings are not necessary or unimportant. Certainly not. Every word, syllable and sound uttered by Bhagawan is a Mantra. Bhagawan has said ‘no sound is beyond the ken of OM, they are all OM, its per- mutations and products. Brahman too is OM, identified by it and with it.’ All that Brahman spoke, uttered and said is verily and truly Brahman and is the Highest.

Bhagawan has said ‘fish cannot gauge the sky’. Brahman cannot be grasped by logic; it has to be won by faith in Smrithis and experience. Bhagawan has said ‘My life is my message. Follow it.’

Speaking on Atma, Bhagawan has said ‘The Atma is not even an object to be known. It is not the knower, the known nor knowledge. Discovering this is the supremest vision; informing one of this is the supremest instruction. The instructor is Brahman and the instructed is also Brahman.’

Blessed are we to have the formless and nameless Brahman, the Sanathana Sarathi, the Geetacharya, amidst us in human form, Sri Sathya Sai Avathar. Let us not miss this golden opportunity but through Sravana, Manana, Nidhidhyasa, put in practice the sayings of Bhagawan’s Divine Vani (Divine sayings) to realise Him.

FOREWORD

Bhagavan Baba’s writings, discourses and sayings are a perennial and inexhaustible source of inspiration, illumination and guidance for spiritual aspirants everywhere. Apart from the published volumes of Swami’s writings and speeches which run into more than twenty volumes, Swami’s sayings in different contexts are to be found in a number of books on Bhagavan’s life and message.

Although a few books have been published giving selected pas- sages from Swami’s sayings as a kind of manual for the use of devotees and others interested in Bhagavan’s message, there has been no comprehensive publication serving as a ready reference book on Bhagavan’s sayings in relation to different subjects. The present book by Sri Tumuluru Krishnamurthy seeks to fill this need. It is a great labour of love and devotion.

Bhagavan’s sayings on every conceivable subject have been collected from as many as 65 publications and have been presented in alphabetical order for easy and ready reference. The value of the book as a reference work is enhanced by the inclusion at the end of every item, of the source from which the quotation has been taken. This will help the earnest reader to go to the source book for fuller information regarding the subject concerned and for understanding the context in which the saying was given. The book will be an invaluable source of reference for all serious seekers and students of Bhagavan’s teachings.
