You might say that the karma of the previous birth has to be consumed in this birth and that no amount of grace can save man from that. Evidently, someone has taught you to believe so, but I assure you, you need not suffer from karma like that. When a severe pain torments you, the doctor gives you a morphine injection and you do not feel the pain, though it is there in the body. Grace is like the morphine, the pain is not felt, though you go through it; grace takes away the malignity of the karma which you have to undergo. You know there are dated drugs, which are declared ineffective after a certain date; well; the effect of karma is rendered null though the account is there and has to be rendered. Or the Lord can save a man completely from the consequence, as was done by Me for the bhakta whose paralytic stroke and heart attacks I took over some months ago, in the Guru Purnima week. It is wrong to say that Lalata likhitam cannot be wiped out; that which one has earned in previous births must be consumed in this birth. Grace can countermand all that; nothing can stand in its way. It is the grace of the ‘Almighty’, remember. (SSS Vol.4, p. 120)
Cultivate the habit of remembering the Lord with every breath; then only can you remember Him with the last breath. (SSS Vol.3, p. 91)
Do not have a wavering mind. Remember that you should have an unwavering mind if you want to attain the state of samadhi. You should be able to concentrate. (SSB 1973, p. 72)
Remember the God in whom you move, the God who makes you move, the God who is all this vast universe, every atom, every huge star. Select some name and form for this all-pervasive immanent God and keep that on your tongue and before your mental eye. That is what is called japasahita dhyana, meditation-cum-recitation of the name. (SSS Vol.4, p. 44)
Remember the Lord makes no difference between caste and caste. What He cares for is the virtue and single-minded yearning. (SSS Vol.3, p. 237)
It is not everyone that can repeat the Pranava at the last moment; that is the reason why constant remembrance of the Lord is said to have the power of inducing the Lord to bear the burden of your Yogakshema, happiness here and hereafter. Sadhana gains everything. Sadhana, steady and strong. (GV, p. 155)
‘Whoever is busy with no other thoughts than those about Me, whoever is ever remembering Me, he certainly will release his dying breath through the centre of his head; he will attain Me. I am as near him, as he is near Me’, said Krishna. (GV, p. 156)
Remember each person has three sources of power in him: as an individual, as a child or limb of God, and as a shrine where Atma is installed. You must have read that Hanuman once told Rama, ‘When I feel I am this body You are my Lord; when I feel I am a distinct Soul or Jiva, I know I am the reflection and You, the Original; when I know I am the Atma, I know that I am You and You are I’. Be ever in the consciousness that you are but the shadow of God, His image. Then no harm can hamper you. God walks along the royal road of Truth; the shadow holding on to Him by the feet falls on hollow and hill, fire and water, dirt and dust. So, if you hold on to the feet, you can be as unaffected as the shadow by the ups and downs of life. (SSS Vol.6, p. 260)
Remember, it is not the year alone that is new once in 365 days. Every day is new, every hour and minute, every second is new. Do not celebrate only the New Year Day in joy, celebrate every second in joy.(SSS Vol.2, p. 32)
Fear robs man of his mental resources. It creates anger that cannot be easily pacified. Thus, desire, anger and fear are aroused one after the other and these three have to be removed. (GV, p. 68)
Man is divine. If only he remembers this, he would begin to look at life differently. He will cease to be affected by so much that goes on around him. (SSS Vol.15)
When you offer milk to a hungry child, or a blanket to a shivering brother on the pavement, you are but placing a gift of God into the hands of another gift to God! You are reposing the gift of God in a repository of the Divine Principle! God serves; He allows you to claim that you have served! Without His Will, not a single blade of grass can quiver in the breeze. Fill every moment with gratitude to the Giver and the Recipient of all gifts. (SSS Vol.9)
Remember: God never forgets devotees, it is the devotees who forget God. God never gives up the devotee; only the devotee leaves God. (SSS Vol.23, p. 112)
Remember that anger deprives Man of his wisdom. The angry man cannot succeed in any endeavour. (SSE, p. 85)
Remember, when you stand before God to render your final account, He will not ask you: How popular you were during life; How many parties you went to; How well dressed you were; How much fun you had for yourself; How many clubs you belonged to; How big a bank account you had; But, He will ask you: ‘What did you do for others?’ (SAY, p. 2)
It should be remembered that if morality derails, money comes and goes but if morality prevails, money comes and grows. The main reason for impeded economic development is the absence of morality. Today morality is at the rock bottom level in every field of social activity: be it business, politics, etc. Moral and ethical values enhance the worldly status and authority but not the vice-versa. (M, pp. 226-227)
Shri Krishna told Arjuna ‘Mamanuswara yuddhyacha’ ‘Remember Me always and fight the battle!’ Arjuna was puzzled; he said, ‘I am fighting a war and You teach me philosophy! War and philosophy are opposites like fire and water. How can they go together? When I listen to philosophy, I do not feel like fighting and when I am fighting, I do not have the patience to listen to philosophy! Krishna replied, ‘Philosophy is a way of life. It is for everyone fighting on the battlefield of life. When you think of Me and fight, no sin accrues to you. When you offer all your actions to Me, you will not be bound by them. Work is transformed into worship. It results in wisdom’
What is wisdom? True wisdom is to see God everywhere, to recognise the unity in multiplicity.

(Bhagavad Gita, 11:33)
Nimitta-matram bhava savya-sacin, you should become instruments in the hands of God. Narayan Bhat was such an instrument. He came into the world and did his work and then left. You should work hard to fulfil his aspirations. You are all doing good work. But now and then human weaknesses haunt you. Ups and downs are natural to life. The obstacles you face in your lives are the tests. There is no promotion without the test. You have to welcome these tests if you aspire to reach Swami. You should have firm determination to reach Him. Then you will surely succeed. (SSSDK, pp. 166-167)
Remember three things always. Continue Seva, wherever you are. Seek chances of helping others. Never lose an opportunity of using your skills and enthusiasm for the alleviation of sorrow, pain or distress. Again, do not omit or neglect or postpone your own particular spiritual Sadhana – study, Japam, Dhyanam, Bhajan, Namasankirtan, and other disciplines. Above all, have faith that Swami is with you, at all times and at places. (SSS Vol.7, p.228)
