Conscience

Whatever we speak should come out of the heart. We should speak with all love. Whatever you speak with love is bound to be truth. When there is no love, there is falsehood. We have to take truth as the basis in all pursuits. It is not that easy. We have to practise.

sreyo hi Jnanam abhyasaj jnanad dhyanam visisyate

dhyanat karma-phala-tyagas tyagac chantir anantaram

(Bhagavad Gita, Chapter 12, Verse 12)

Everything, walking, talking, reading, writing, eating is the result of practise. We need to practise this search for truth. It is only through practice, you will be successful. It is not possible without practice. What is this practice? Sadhana. Sa is salokya, samipya, sarupya, and sayujya – the nearness, the identity and the merger. That is the true form. They are the feelings that come out of the heart. That is called conscience. Today we don’t have conscience. We only think of consciousness. The level of consciousness is the senses. The senses are full of disease. What you get by senses is not truth. It is only truth that comes out of the heart. That is the true path. This is called heart, Hrid+daya =Hridaya. The heart is full of compassion. Share this with others. That is the Sadhana you have to do. Share the love with everybody. Don’t make use of it for selfishness and self-interest. To have that selfish ground is foolish style which is more now. Self lives by getting and forgetting. Love lives by giving and forgiving. Therefore, we have to develop love, making every effort. Where there is love, there is no hatred. (DTB Vol.6, pp. 6-7)

The vital force that is in man is also known as consciousness. To merge this consciousness in the Universal Consciousness has been described as liberation in Vedanta (the concluding essence of Vedas). (SSS Vol.17, p. 34)

There is no teacher greater than the Conscience.

There is no preceptor greater than time.

The world verily is the greatest text.

God is the only true friend.

(Poem in Telugu) (SSS Vol.32 Part II, p. 149)

Follow Your conscience

Do not shape your conduct with an eye on the opinion of others. Instead, follow bravely, gladly and steadily, the sweet and pleasant promptings of your own sattvic manas, your own awakened conscience, your own inner self. Associate yourself with those who are richly endowed with truth. Spend every second of your life usefully and well. If you possibly can, render service to others. Engage yourself in nursing the sick; but when thus engaged in service, do not worry about either the result, or the act of service, or the person to whom it is rendered. The service is made holy and pure if you ignore both the good and the bad, and keep on silently repeating in your heart the mantra that appeals to you. (SSS Vol.39, p.36)
