Consciousness and inertness are inseparable. ‘I’ cannot exist without Consciousness and Consciousness cannot exist without ‘I’. In the work-a-day world, we may mistake and think that the conscious force cannot enter into inert matter and vice versa. But that is a mistaken idea. We close our eyes many times every minute. As our eyelids move, they make a little noise, but the noise is as inaudible that we are unaware of it. Because it is inaudible, we cannot deny the presence of the sound. Just as we are not able to recognise the sound, which is inaudible, in the same way we are not able to recognise the element of Jada (inertness) in Consciousness. (ML, p. 435)
