Change

Good deeds like Puja, Japam, dhyanam, the observance of vows etc., are steps ; good thoughts like prayers for greater discrimination, more chances to help others also help. Slowly, steadily, cleanse the mind; sharpen the intellect; purify the senses; and, win Grace. (SSS Vol.5, p. 152)

The principles of Dharma will not change to suit convenience of man. Dharma is immutable, Dharma persist as Dharma, then, now and forever. Kaale Sandhya Samachareth - Perform Sandhya vandanam in proper time that is the prescription. (DV, p. 36)

See God in the stone; do not change God into stone. (GV, p. 180)

Everything that is born in this world must change. Change is a natural quality of all things that are born in this world. How can things that change from moment to moment give permanent happiness to people. Permanent happiness and bliss can be got only from permanent things and not from changing things. (SSB 1976, p. 9)

 Dharma

Everyone wants to change the society except himself. (Ddd, p. 13)

You have to change yourself. No one in position need watch you. Samiti President need not watch the worker. Samiti President and workers should watch themselves. One has to watch one’s own self. No one has got any power. Then everything will be in perfect order.

You have to satisfy your conscience. That is the path to self-realisation. We are put to so many troubles as the conscience is not clear because we could not understand it. Swami is fully aware of the good work done by the Organisation. In fact, it need not be declared separately because there is no other organisation in the world equal to Sathya Sai Organisation. In no other Organisation would you ever see food supply, water supply in all perfection to lakhs of people as you see here. Not only this. We should understand the patience of the foreigners. They live in palatial mansions. They will have everything promptly. They sleep on Dunlop beds. Today the foreigners spend their time in sheds. They do not have Dunlop beds there. They do not have bed-coffee, cheese, but they adjust. This adjustment is real devotion. Adjustment is spiritual practice. When do you get the quality of adjustment? When there is understanding, there will be adjustment. The understanding is He is my Swami, He is my God. This sort of understanding leads to adjustment. This is true spiritual practice. So have understanding in the first instance having understood, practise it. You will be blissful when you practise. (DTB Vol.6, p. 14)

Everything varies depending on place, time and circumstances; It is 45 years now since World War II has ended. It ended in 1945. Druker, a management expert, started writing on management at that time, and his writings were based on the circumstances prevailing then. In his writing then he was emphasizing the negative aspects more. Since World War II, the circumstances in each country have changed. Then business was confined only to the frontiers of the nation. Gradually changes took place and new principles were incorporated in management. (M, p. 46)

Previously Drucker was emphasizing more on the negative aspects. So business went on deteriorating. So recently he has written another book. He may now be 87 or 88 years old. He has recognized the need for a change. He now tells that without positive aspects, business cannot prosper and negative aspects will have no use. Positive aspect is Shraddha (interest). Is interest on wealth? No, not on wealth but on work. As interest in work has declined, factories are suffering losses. This is also the cause of rising prices.

Japanese have patriotic feelings and they work for the development of their nation. The workers take lower wages. They do not bother much about wages. As wages are low, the Japanese have been able to keep the prices of their goods low. The unique feature in Japanese workers is that they have the ‘spirit of work’. They are more concerned about it. Today in India, the spirit of work has declined. Workers work less but demand more wages, and so the prices are soaring. If one wants an article, be it a watch a clock or a doll, Japanese goods are cheaper. Today in India, wages and salaries for workers and officers are increasing leading to increase in price. (M, p. 51)

Suppose you have pure 24-carat gold with you. After sometime, you add copper to it. Later you add silver to it and then aluminium and brass. When new metals are added to the gold, its true nature undergoes a change and it loses its value. Today man is also undergoing such a change. When he is a child he is pure. As he associates himself with others he acquires violence and non-violence righteousness and unrighteousness, truth and untruth. (SSS Vol.31, p. 448)

Everything in this world is subject to change. It appears to be permanent, but it is not so. God is the only changeless principle. We should therefore install God, who is changeless and eternal, in the altar of our heart and offer our love to Him. That is the foremost duty of a human being. Only then can he experience bliss. What is life after all? Does it mean eating, drinking, sleeping and dying ultimately? By doing so, how can human life be called sacred? At the time of his birth, man is pure and sacred. As he grows up, he gradually loses his purity. This is not proper. A human being should always maintain his purity. I have always maintained purity and sacredness all through My life. As the age advances, there might be some changes in the body. But they are all at the physical level. (SSS Vol.39, pp. 128-129)
