Merge

Born in water and momentarily floating on it, the water bubble disappears into the water. Nara (man), likewise emerges from Narayana (God) and merges back into Him. (SSB 1979, p. 124)

‘Arjuna, The one who sees Me in all and all in Me is dear to Me, whatever be his way of life,’ declared Krishna. ‘That person who worships Me through all creatures merges in Me’. (SSB 1979, p. 104)

The Satya, the Truth, is so subtle and so soothing. Once this is reached, there is no meditation, no meditator; no Dhyana, no Dhyata; all merge into one. (DhyV, p. 17)

Those who listen to this Bhagavatam narrative with earnest devotion (not merely listen) and reflect upon its value and significance and act according to the Light it sheds on their minds, will merge in the Bliss of which Vasudeva, the Lord, is the embodiment. Their hearts will be filled with the sweet nectar of the personification of captivating charm (Madana mohana) and they will experience the Advaitananda, the Bliss of being One and Only. The highest sadhana is the recitation of the name of God with full vigilance of thought, feeling and utterance (Mano-vak-kaya) and the loud singing of His glory. No better sadhana exists. (Bhag Vahini, p. 154)

Merge in God; submerge your mind in Divine activity; Liyate gamyate Iti Lingaha; that in which all merge, that to which all proceed is Linga. God is called citta chora, the thief who steals hearts. When you know that he does so because he likes hearts, it is your duty to keep the hearts clean, so that He will be more pleased with His booty. (SSS Vol.8, p. 29)

A bubble is born on water, from water and merges in water! Man is born in God and merges in God! (SSS Vol.8, p. 21)

The purpose of spiritual education or Brahma Vidya is to enable man to have a Vision of the Divine in society. When man combines this Vision with Tapas, he merges with God. The Vision of Divinity and merging with Divinity are the two poles; one positive, the other negative. The positive and negative will join together and take you to a position where you will become Divine. (HM, p. 32)

Whatever anyone may do, there can be no deficiency in the Divine. Whether you praise or blame God, neither affects Him. In the Mahabharata, once Dharmaja watched with anguish the abuses levelled against Krishna by Shishupala and which Krishna tolerated for quite sometime. Then he hurled a plate at Shishupala which severed his head. Dharmaja saw the blood from Shishupala’s body flowing towards Krishna and a divine flame from his body merging in Krishna.

Dharmaja asked Narada how the soul of a wicked person like Shishupala could merge in Krishna. Narada explained that good and bad, fame and blame relate only to the body and not to theAtma. The merger in the Divine of devotees who have worshipped the Lord in many ways takes place after a long period of trials and tribulations, but it lasts eternally. In the case of the wicked, who remember the Lord constantly out of hatred, the merger takes place quickly but remains only for a short spell. The merger of soul in the Divine takes place for different reasons. In the case of Kamsa it was fear of Krishna, which made him always remember Krishna, hatred in the case of Shishupala and Dantavakra, maternal affection in the case of Yashodha, who merged in Krishna through love. The Gopikas merged in the Lord through single-pointed devotion and Radha merged in the Lord owing to Ekatma bhava (sense of spiritual oneness). All attained merger. But in each case, it was up to a specific level. (SSS Vol.26, pp. 324-325)
