If we can understand and acquire the essence of Atmavidya , then every other Vidya will become available to you. All these material Vidyas, that we learn for the sake of the material worlds are like individual rivers. But Adhyatmika Vidya is like the ocean. These different branches of education, which are like the rivers, go and join the ocean of spiritual education, and they lose their individuality. That is why it has been said, ‘Adhyatmavidya Vidya nam’. Amongst all Vidyas, Adhyatmika Vidya is the only true Vidya . We should try and promote the sacred ‘prema’ in us, if we really want to take the spiritual path and enjoy the bliss which the spiritual path will give us. (SSB 1977, pp. 191-192)
