When violence is used for preserving the peace and prosperity of the world, it cannot draw down any bad reaction. The lion, though it is the king of the forest, while walking through the wood, turns back every few steps, for it is afraid of being pursued. Fear in the mind makes the vision falter. Violence within the heart distorts the vision and distracts the sight. (Prema Vahini, p. 5)

The word Hindu means those who keep away from the path of violence, away of from inflicting injury on others; Hin (Hinsa-injury, violence); dhu (dhura--away, distant). (SSS Vol.9)

The only way of hope in the enveloping gloom of fear violence and cruelty, of enforced conformity, of hatred and persecution, is the Peace that one can win through self-control and Sadhana. That peace will pervade and puffy the inner consciousness as well as the outer atmosphere. (SSS Vol.18)
