Quintessence

Sarvam khalu idam Brahma - verily, all that is, Brahman. This is the quintessence of the Upanishads. The truth about the vast universe of moving and motionless objects is contained in this single pronouncement. There is nothing in the Cosmos sans Brahman. Divinity is latent in everything like fire in wood and oil in sesame.’ (SSS Vol.24, p. 44)

The quintessence of all Religions, the primary goals and aim of all paths and sayings of Shastras and Scriptures is love and love alone. Once we inculcate this love in our daily life, we have sanctified our lives. So with this eye of divinity within, you, plunge into service of fellow men. Through the medium of body serve the poor, the downtrodden, the helpless and those who have given up hope.... The person who serves is the person served. You serve when you serve another. You serve another because his suffering causes you anguish and by relieving it, you want to free yourself of that anguish. Unless you have that anguish, your service will be hollow and insincere.... Just think for a moment. Are you serving God; or is God serving you? When a pilgrim stands waist deep in the Ganga, takes in his palm the sacred water, and reciting an invocatory formula, pours the water as an offering to the Deity, what he has done is only pouring Ganga into Ganga. When you offer milk to a hungry child, or a blanket to a shivering brother on the pavement you are but placing a gift of God into the hands of another. God serves. He allows you to claim that you have served... Neither performances of austerities nor pilgrimages to all holy places, nor studies of all Shastras, nor immersion in japa will ever help one to cross the Ocean of Samsara (cycle of births and deaths). The only path that will help you to be liberated from samsara is dedicating yourself to the service of others. (SBA, p. Preface)

The quintessence of all scriptures is that the man should feel his identity with the one Atma that is present in all beings. (Uniq, p. 158)
