Purnahuti

Valedictory oblation. (Glossary for the Vahinis)

The heart of man is itself the sacrificial fire altar. The pangs of desires are the tongues of flame; the evil that is in man is the offering that goes into the fire, and the treasure of unruffled ananda is the ultimate gain. This is the real Yajna you have to perform every day of your life. All these ceremonies are but a symbolic reminder and an inner prompting for you to act according to the dictates of Dharma, in everyday life. The Vedapurusha receiving these outer offerings is in you. Dedicate all your thoughts, words and deeds to Him. That is the real Yajna. The Zoroastrian fire symbol is an invitation for you to cast into the fire all the lower instincts and impulses. Offer all bitterness in the sacred fire and emerge grand, great and Godly. (VD, p. 83)

Embodiments of the Divine! On this auspicious Purnahuti day, offer in the sacrificial fire of your heart, all your defects and bad qualities such as envy, greed, and antipathy and take a resolve to cultivate good qualities. All the wealth about which you boast is valueless. The real wealth is the practice of Virtue. Good character is real knowledge. This knowledge is wealth, which will not decline however much you may use it, and no one can flinch it away from you. Today this Yajna has come to a close. This should mean that our spirit of sacrifice has achieved fulfilment. Henceforth, develop universal love and dedicate yourself to the service of society. Life is constantly ebbing away. To utilise all your resources for the good of others is the way to experience real bliss. Whatever may have been your lapses in the past, begin a new life of dedication and devotion from today. Make the best use of the sacred atmosphere prevailing in the Ashram and engage yourself in spiritual sadhana (practices) and service to the people around you.

On this Purnahuti day I bless you that you should find fulfilment by becoming integrated personalities, enjoying unalloyed Bliss. (SSS Vol.16, p. 158)
