Murkha

Murkha means a Senseless Man. Mere knowledge by itself is of no avail. Ravana had studied more branches of knowledge than Rama. But Valmiki described Ravana as a Murkha a self-willed fool. Rama was hailed as a perfect man. Wherein lies the difference between the two? Rama utilised all the knowledge he had gained for noble purpose and the welfare of all. He had mastery over the senses. He gave up the kingdom. He pledged to uphold truth. Dedicating his knowledge to the cause of truth, he set an example of ideal life to mankind; he dedicated his life to the country. Rama exemplified human perfection by his sacrifice, his adherence to truth and spotless character. On the other hand, Ravana utilised all his knowledge for enjoying sensuous pleasures, became a slave of his senses and brought ruin upon himself and his country.

Knowledge acquired should be used for the well-being of all (Sarvahita ratha). Only then can he be deemed a man of wisdom (Jnana sampannah). Such a wise person will be endowed with all good qualities. It is for these noble purpose that the ancient system of education was devised. (BA, pp. 116-117)

You have to make a distinction between knowledge and wisdom. When Valmiki was asked by Lava and Kusha why he described Ravana as murkha (a senseless man), although he was the master of all the Vedas and Shastras, while describing Rama as a high-souled person, he said: ‘Ravana was a well-versed scholar, but did not practise what he knew. Rama was a Jnani (a wise one) who lived up to what he had learnt. By controlling His senses, Rama led a life of truth-and righteousness.’ Education that is used only for selfish ends is no education at all. Education should be used for promoting the welfare of others. Ravana sought only his own pleasure. Rama dedicated His life for the welfare of all. (SSS Vol.22, pp. 22-23)
