Man has to conduct himself in daily life depending on with whom he is interacting with, according to the rules of morality. A person may have to play the roles of a son, a father, husband or a master. He may have to conduct himself both as a master and as a student. While transacting in his life, he has to play different roles in different situations. While addressing his wife, he will conduct himself in a particular manner in terms of the language used, feelings expressed etc. The same person, while conversing with his mother, will conduct himself differently in terms of the language used and the feelings expressed. Similarly in various interactions with friends and enemies, man conducts himself differently. What is the inner significance of man’s conduct in different ways according to different situations with different people? This is called Mental or Intellectual Environment. He has to conduct himself in this manner because be has to take into account the human values in both internal and external environments. If he has to adjust his conduct in different situations, he needs the capacity to discriminate. For discrimination, one should have purity of Heart. To a man with a pure heart, all wisdom and knowledge unfold and reveal themselves in all clarity. (M, p. 136)
