The greatness of this country depends on the greatness of its citizens. The history of great persons of our country is the history of the country itself. History means-good culture, good hearts, good behaviour, and good conduct.

Irrespective of one’s academic attainments, status, authority, scriptural scholarship, etc., if his heart is not pure he will be considered useless and his life will become wasted. History also means good character (Sat-shila). Good character is unity, purity, and determination. Every human being should have courage (Dhairya), an adventurous spirit (Sahasa), patience, determination, sacrifice, and valour (Parakrama). If all these traits are present in a human being, apart from the first three mentioned above, he will be able to achieve success in various fields and also set an example to others. Be an ideal for others. Character is of two types namely individual character and national character. (M, p. 14)
