Sat,Cit, Anandam,Paripurna,Nitya, Brahman is described by these five attributes. Through an understanding of these, Brahman can be grasped. Sat is unaffected by Time: Cit illumines and reveals itself as well as all else; ananda creates the utmost desirability; Paripurna knows no defect or diminution or decline, or defeat: Nitya is that which is unaffected by the limitation of space, time and objectivisation.(UV, pp. 71-72) The Shastras describe Brahman as Sat-cit-anand. It is also described as, Asti bhati priyam. Sat means that which persists in the in the past, present future and is conveyed by the word, Asti. Cit means that which is conscious of everything (also means Bhati). ananda means unending source of joy (also means priyam).(G.V. - p.130)
