Na sreyo niyamam vina--’No progress without rules and restrictions.’ Blessed are they who obey the commandments for, they will be rewarded. (SSS Vol.11, p. 108)

The Samhita (beneficial Divine instructions) lays down that the teachings constitute the eternal commandments for the conduct of man. The Samhita teaches that based on these commandments, the students should lead a life of exemplary excellence. (SSS Vol.17, p. 88)

Ekadasa Commandments:

1. Practise: Ahimsa, Satyam, Brahmacharya.
2. Remember: Death, Pains of Samsara, God.
3. Remove: Egoism, Desire, Attachment,
4. Cultivate: Humility, Fearlessness, Patience.
5. Eradicate: Lust, Anger, Greed.
6. Love: Liberation, The Wise, Selfless Service.
7. Admire: Generosity, Courage, Nobility.
8. Hate: Lust, Anger, Pride.
9. Revere: Guru, Renunciation, Discrimination.
10. Control: Tongue, Temper, Tossing of Mind.
11. Avoid: Backbiting, Falsehood, Harsh word.
